Laurent X - Drowning In A Sea Of House
DROWNING IN A SEA OF HAPPINESS
Quel disque! Ce bijou sorti tout droit du Chicago des années 80, démontre une fois de plus toute la grandiosité de la scène techno-house de l'époque. On ne peut pas s'empêcher de citer les maîtres Ron Hardy, Marshall Jefferson, Fairley Jackmaster Funk. Derrière Laurent X se cache deux hommes: Mark Imperial et Vinny Divine qui viennent se rajouter à la liste. Ils signent en 1988"Machines", EP qui fait encore le bonheur de toutes les "Happy Face" jaunes sous Acid(ou pas).
Fortement influencé par l'Italo-disco (Mark déclarera d'ailleurs avoir commencer sa carrière de DJ en jouant principalement de l'Italo), il est très amusant de voir qu'aujourd'hui, la scène house se réclame de ses mêmes auteurs, bref, l'arroseur arrosé.
Voici le deuxième morceau de la face B, une fraction dévastatrice de deep house old school:
What a record! This gem straight out from the Chicago of the eighties, once again demonstrates the whole grandeur of the techno scene from this period. Can't help mentionning the masters Ron Hardy, Marshall Jefferson, Fairly Jackmaster Funk. Behind Laurent X hides two men: Mark Imperial and Vinny Divine add to the list. In 1988, they sign"Machines", this EP still brings joy in the soul of all the yellow happy faces under acid(or not).
Highly influenced by Italo-disco(Mark said "this is how the whole thing started"), it is funny to see that today, the house scene declare itself from these same authors. A case of the biter bit.

Aphex Twin est une figure incontournable de la musique électronique. Toutes les productions de Richard David James sont intelligentes, expérimentales, voire névrosées. Il ne respecte aucune loi, si ce n'est la sienne.
Sorti en 1999, on se rappelle tous de ça:
Aphex Twin is an electronic music's figure who cannot be ignored. All of Richard David James'productions are intelligent, experimental, and highly neurotic. He doesn't respect any laws, except his owns.

Ce morceau est une parfaite illustration de ce que j'aime chez Aphex Twin.Un savant mélange des styles vers lesquels je tend le plus: une Techno sombre alliée à une percutante Drum and Bass.
This track is the perfect illustration of what I love in Aphex Twins'way of working things out. A clever mix of the styles I tend towards the most: a dark Techno combined with a forceful Drum and Bass.
